231 years

I admit it. I am a total patriot. Yes, the sappy kind that gets tears when she hears the Star Spangled Banner, who claps for fabulous fireworks, who feels like her heart will burst when a marching band goes by playing a Sousa march. Because the fact is, I love America. I do.

I love that in America you can spread out.

I love that in America, if you want a big, fast car, you can buy one and there are so many places to roam in it.

I love that in America you can speak your mind.

I love that in America you can come with, or be born with, nothing and work your way up to whatever you can dream.

I love that in America you can be who you feel led to be.

I love that in America there are cowboys, and cowboys are the heart of our epic experience.

I love that in America you have so many choices that it's almost hard to decide.

I love that in America we celebrate the variety that exists, while also celebrating the unity that we are all Americans.

I love that in America we are a little proud of being off-beat, strong-willed and independent.

I love that in America we celebrate the underdog.

I love that in America you can stand up for yourself. And others.

I love that in America we have heroes. Heroes who go the extra mile, heroes who risk their lives for others, heroes who know that a child's kitten is very important and needs to be rescued.

I love that in America I can vote. And it matters.

I love that in America I can go to the hospital and know that the hospital has state of the art diagnostic equipment, and I don't have to wait for months to receive the benefits of it.

I love that in America I can go to a town meeting and have my voice heard.

I love that in America people can find refuge.

I love that in America we are so blessed there is no way to list all the blessings.

I love that in America we can reach out our hand and help others.

I just love America. Happy 231st birthday!
